1. Quack-e-oke.

The Swan’s pre-Quack karaoke is something that every student needs to do before they leave Lincoln for good. There’s a free shot for every singer, and the cocktails are amazing. What’s not to love?!

2. Sunday Club.

Sunday Club is a chilled out electronic music night with cheap drinks and a great vibe. You can pop in for one drink or get yourself a six shot stick (or two) and see where the night ends!

3. Cocktails in the Hilton.

The view from the Hilton bar is incredible, and the cocktails are pretty good too!

4. Rising Café.

A café in the Alive church run entirely by people recovering from drug or alcohol addictions. The interior is cool and quirky, and their afternoon tea is to die for.

5. Daisy Made.

A little bit of a hassle to get to (you will need someone with a car for this) but definitely worth it. Homemade ice cream, a petting zoo, and crazy golf all in one place. Well worth a trip!

6. Tiagos.

This Brazilian Rodizio offers all-you-can-eat meat and fries in a beautiful building. The meat is carved off for you at your table and the drinks are ?. Too pricey to be a regular spot, but a necessity before you leave!

7. Café Aroma.

Any quaint coffee shop open until 11pm some nights is a win in my book, but Café Aroma also serves some of the best coffee I’ve ever tasted. You just can’t live in Lincoln without visiting this piece of heaven.

8. Madame Waffle.

Serves a wide variety of both sweet and savoury waffles alongside another lot of fantastic coffee. There is nothing more you need in life.

9. Cathedral/Magna Carta.

The Cathedral is a big part of Lincoln’s history. It’s absolutely stunning to see and you might even learn something too! You can get joint tickets for the cathedral and the castle (which houses a copy of the Magna Carta) which is another must visit!

10. The Collection/The Usher Gallery.

The Collection houses another, older, part of Lincoln’s history, with some pieces in the museum dating back to the Stone Age. Both this and the art collection in the Usher are free to visit so there’s no excuse not to go.

11. A show at the LPAC.

The LPAC often puts on shows run by drama students or travelling theatre companies. By going to see one of these shows you’re supporting fellow students and entertaining yourself for a night. Double win!

12. Or a gig at the Engine Shed.

The Engine Shed hosts both musicians and comedy acts throughout the year, with previous shows including Scouting for Girls, Jimmy Carr, and Brian Cox. Tickets are reasonably priced but beware, sometimes it can get very loud!

13. The Arboretum.

The Arboretum is easy to find and absolutely beautiful, especially when it’s sunny!

14. Steep Hill.

You just can’t truly call yourself a University of Lincoln student unless you’ve walked up Steep Hill. There are loads of places to stop for a rest and multiple bars at the top to grab a glass of wine to reward yourself with!

15. Ghost Walk.

It might seem a little childish but the walk only costs you a fiver and is extremely entertaining. The route takes you around the cathedral and contains a variety of different stories of how the ghosts met their fate.

16. Playzone.

Every Tuesday night, Playzone opens its doors just for adults. For £6 (with your student ID), you can enjoy 2 hours of child-like joy in 10,000sq.ft of fun.

17. Find the Lincoln Imp.

There are versions of it everywhere so it should be easy to recognise!

18. Go to the “beach”.

Lincoln Council set up a small mock-beach in the centre of the city every summer, and even though it’s not real, it’s close enough. The “beach” has sand, deckchairs and a fair, and if you haven’t been yet, you need to.

19. And, of course, a Lincoln City Football Match.

Lincoln City’s popularity has soared over the last few months, but seeing a game of theirs is a necessity for any student. They are extremely accommodating and helpful to students (letting the annual football match between BGU and UoL take place in their stadium), and give out free tickets to an Under-21s game every Fresher’s Fayre. The team deserves the support of students, although the constant cheering could hurt your voice after a while!

20. But most of all, just make the most of being at such a great uni.
