It’s always hard to decide when is a good time to invest, the student housing and accommodation market in Lincoln has suffered recently from new purpose built student blocks, taking tenants from private housing into managed student blocks. However, recently we have seen a downturn in this trend. Today the University of Lincoln was refused planning for 500 new bedrooms within a purpose built block. by the City of Lincoln Council.
This refusal is welcome news for private landlords. With ‘Marina Court’ being rejected planning this means there will be 500 new students looking for somewhere to live in the 2018 intake. Even better news is that according to the University of Lincoln the intake numbers are due to rise by 1400 places for the 2018 academic year, putting pressure on the private housing market and increasing rents.
