Hey, itâs Emma againâyour resident journalism student (and low-key foodie). After two years in Lincoln, Iâve definitely found my go-to spots for cheap, delicious eats that donât wreck my student loan. Whether youâre skint from a night at Superbull or just want a solid lunch between lectures, hereâs my ultimate guide to eating in Lincoln on a budget.
Okay, I know what youâre thinkingâa tea room? But trust me, Buntyâs is a hidden gem. Their toasted sandwiches are chefâs kiss, and theyâve got the best homemade cakes for a post-lecture pick-me-up. Plus, itâs right near the Cathedral, so you can pretend youâre sophisticated while actually eating cake for lunch.
You havenât done Lincoln right until youâve had a curry at Castle View. Itâs proper affordable, with loads of veggie options too. Their student deals on curries and naan are unbeatable. Perfect for a Friday night takeaway when youâre too tired (or too hungover) to cook.
This place is my absolute fave for chill vibes and seriously good food. Itâs a vegan cafĂ©, but even my meat-eater mates love it. Their curry bowls and loaded nachos are next-level, and prices are proper student-friendly. Plus, itâs the kind of place where you can grab a coffee and actually study without feeling like you have to leave after five minutes.
A bit of a splurge but totally worth it if you love cheese (who doesnât?). Their toasties are legendary and surprisingly affordable if youâre splitting a plate with a mate. Great for a treat-yoâself lunch or sharing a baked Camembert before a night out.
This is hands-down one of my favourite spots for a cheeky bite and a drink on a budget. Their loaded fries, burgers, and wings are proper affordable, and the place has the best vibe (and even better drinks deals). Perfect for pre-drinks or a chilled lunch after a long day of lectures.
Lincolnâs food scene is seriously underrated, especially if you know where to look. Whether youâre after a quick lunch between lectures or a cheeky takeaway after a night out, these five spots have saved my bank balance (and my stomach) more times than I can count.
